Commissioned by the Contemporary
Art Society for the Economist Tower in London this participatory
installation utilized video footage shot on location in Las
Vegas and audio sampled from self-hypnosis tracks (from which
the title is derived) for stressed business executives. Three
relaxation areas were created which mimicked the nearby waiting
area of the building. Mies van der Rohe chairs, flat screen
monitors and cushioned headphones formed an inviting environment
for visitors to the building to use.The
video footage of perpetually revolving, sparkling objects
was complemented by the hypnotic audio tracks. The audio had
been subtley modified: the 'return to consciousness' ending
associated with hypnosis was removed.
